Privacy Policy
EzySplit helps you split shared expenses with friends and track your own spending. This policy explains what information the app and this website collect, why, and what you can do about it. We don't sell your data and the app shows no ads.
1. Information we collect
When you sign in
You sign in with Google. We receive your name, email address, profile photo and a Google account ID. We never see your Google password.
What you add in the app
- Groups you create or join, and their members
- Expenses: description, amount, currency, category, date, items, who paid and how it was split
- Settlements and payments you record
- Personal expense lists that only you can see
- Your UPI ID, only if you choose to save it for settle-ups
- Join requests and group settings (for example, a locked group)
Collected automatically
- Notification token, so we can send you push notifications (for example, when someone adds an expense)
- App usage analytics (Firebase Analytics): screens viewed, features used, app version, device model, OS version and approximate country, linked to a random app-instance ID. We do not collect the advertising ID.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): what went wrong, device model and OS version, so we can fix bugs
When you contact us
If you use our support form, we receive your email, your message, your name if you give it, and any screenshot you attach.
Ask EzySplit (AI assistant)
If the assistant is enabled for your account, your question is sent to our server and to an AI provider to write the answer. The app works out the numbers on your phone and shares only the summary needed to answer that question, not your full expense history. We keep a daily count of questions to enforce usage limits.
What we don't collect
No bank, card or UPI PINs. EzySplit never processes payments. When you settle up with UPI, the app opens your own UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe and so on), and the payment happens there. We don't access your contacts, location, camera roll or files.
2. How we use your information
- To run the app: show your groups, calculate balances and keep everyone's data in sync
- To send notifications you'd expect, such as new expenses and join requests
- To fix crashes and understand which features are used, so we can improve the app
- To reply when you contact us
- To keep the service safe and prevent abuse
3. Who can see your information
Members of your groups see your name and profile photo, and the expenses, splits and settlements in groups you share. If you save a UPI ID, members who settle up with you can see it. Your personal expense lists are visible only to you.
We use these service providers to run EzySplit:
- Google Firebase: sign-in, database, notifications, analytics and crash reports
- Vercel: hosting for this website and our server
- Cloudinary: storing screenshots attached to feedback
- Google Gmail: emailing us when feedback arrives
- AI providers (Google Gemini, xAI or Anthropic): only for Ask EzySplit questions, as described above
We share information only with these providers, to run the service, or when the law requires it. We don't sell personal data or share it for advertising.
4. How long we keep it
- Account and app data: for as long as your account exists
- Expenses in a shared group: as long as that group exists, because other members' balances depend on them
- Analytics: up to 14 months. Crash reports: up to 90 days.
- Feedback messages: until the issue is resolved, then deleted on request
5. Your choices & deleting your data
- Edit or delete expenses you added, leave groups and remove your UPI ID at any time in the app
- Turn off notifications in your phone's settings
- Delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete my account), or request deletion without the app. See how to delete your account and data.
6. Security
All data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Database access is restricted by security rules, so you can only read groups you belong to. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and fix problems quickly.
7. Children
EzySplit is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
When we make important changes, we'll update the date at the top and let you know in the app. Earlier versions are available on request.
9. Contact
Questions or requests: arunk4it@gmail.com or the support form.
